If we are a faster moving therapy, how do we get to the heart of the matter?
We call our method of quickly getting to a core relational problem: Scene-It.
Scene-It is foundational to nearly every session in The Doherty Approach. The very first session doesn't have time to do a full Scene-It, but sessions two onwards do.
This introduction to Scene-It helps you see how every marital problem happens in a real time place and space, with real words and actions.
Only in real time with real words and actions and contextual factors (sometimes including third parties) can we really get the couple's interactional dances.
The Doherty Approach is not simply about gathering how each person felt at the time, in their post-game analysis, or now in retrospect during the session. You will see how helpful this is in your work!
